What is collected, and why

Contact form

When you write through the form on the contact page, your name, email address and message are sent to my inbox so I can answer you. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to enquiries, or the steps needed before a contract when you ask about a commission or a print. I keep the correspondence for as long as the conversation, or the work that follows from it, requires.

Client preview

The preview room at /preview/ is for editors I have invited. You sign in with your email address and a shared pass. Your address, the shoot you open and the frames you mark are kept in your own browser so you can return to them, and are emailed to me when you sign in and when you send a selection. Nothing else about you is recorded.

Prints

Enquiries about prints come to me by email, as above. Should a purchase be completed through an online checkout, that payment is handled by the checkout provider under its own privacy terms, and I receive only what is needed to make and deliver the print: your name, address and contact details.

Server logs

The site is hosted by Simply.com in Denmark. Like any web server, theirs records the IP address, time, requested page and browser type of each visit in a technical log, used for security and to keep the site running. These logs are not used to identify or profile visitors and are deleted on the host’s normal schedule.

Cookies and local storage

filip.gl sets no cookies. It uses no analytics, no advertising and no social plug-ins, and every font and script is served from this domain. Two things are stored in your browser’s local storage, which never leaves your device: your choice of light or dark theme, and, in the preview room, your sign-in and your marked frames. Both are strictly necessary for the function you asked for, so no consent banner is required. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings.

Who else handles data

Messages from the contact form and the preview room are delivered by Web3Forms, a form-to-email service run by Web3Creative in India with servers in the United States. Web3Forms processes the message in order to forward it to me and may retain a copy for a limited period under its own policy and data processing agreement. This means the content of your message is transferred outside the EU. If you would rather avoid that, write to hello@filip.gl directly. Simply.com hosts the site and keeps the server logs described above. Links to Instagram open Instagram’s own site, which has its own terms.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask what data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy in a portable form. Write to hello@filip.gl and I will answer within a month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to Datatilsynet, the Danish Data Protection Agency, at datatilsynet.dk.

Changes

If the site starts doing something new with data, this page changes first, and the date at the top with it.
