Studio Oliver Gustav
Studio Oliver Gustav, nestled in the heart of Copenhagen, is a sanctuary of refined minimalism and timeless artistry. With my lens, I sought to capture the poetic elegance of the space, where design, art, and curation converge seamlessly.

Tucked away in Copenhagen, Studio Oliver Gustav is more than just a design studio—it’s an immersive experience. The space exudes a serene, almost monastic quality, with muted tones, natural textures, and a carefully curated selection of objects that feel as though they’ve been unearthed from another era. It’s a space that speaks in whispers, inviting visitors to slow down and appreciate every detail. Through my lens, I tried to translate this quiet drama into images, highlighting the way light and shadow dance across its interiors.

Oliver Gustav, the mind behind the studio, has an extraordinary eye for composition. Known for his work as a creative consultant and curator, Gustav brings together a mix of art, furniture, and objects that feel both timeless and contemporary. His spaces are meticulously arranged yet retain a sense of fluidity, allowing each item to tell its own story. The Copenhagen studio, in particular, feels like a gallery where function meets pure artistry—a place where design lovers can lose themselves in its understated beauty.
Light and shadow at play in Studio Oliver Gustav, where every detail whispers a story of timeless elegance and artistic curation.

The studio showcases a mix of iconic and lesser-known names in design and art. Pieces by the late Danish sculptor Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen bring an organic, almost spiritual presence to the space, while furniture by Rick Owens offers a stark yet harmonious counterpoint with its bold, architectural forms. Other highlights include objects by Vincenzo de Cotiis, whose pieces blur the line between art and functionality, and ceramics by Japanese artisans, which add a touch of delicate imperfection to the otherwise structured environment.

One of the things I love most about Studio Oliver Gustav is its ability to create an atmosphere that feels both otherworldly and deeply personal. The space itself, with its soaring ceilings and muted palette, acts as a canvas for the pieces within it. It’s a space where silence becomes a medium, allowing each work to breathe and resonate with those who step inside. My photography focused on these quiet moments—the curve of a sculpture, the patina on a table, or the way a single beam of light lands on an object—capturing the essence of what makes this studio so compelling.

Situated in Copenhagen, the studio’s location feels perfectly aligned with the city’s reputation for design excellence. Yet, Studio Oliver Gustav stands apart in its approach, offering something more introspective, more personal. It’s not just a showroom; it’s a testament to the power of curation, where every item feels like a piece of a larger story. For anyone visiting Copenhagen, this space is an absolute must—a destination that lingers in your mind long after you’ve left.
